D.C. Criminal Code § 604

OR INFORMATION (1)Any person who negligently, or wilfully, loses or destroys tangible government data that is or was required to be stored, as prescribed by law, whilst holding a government office, shall be guilty of Mishandling government information. (2)This shall be a Class A Offense. (3)Officials that have departed from government offices shall be required to provide reasonable means for their successor, to access the data that their position collected or stored; if they fail to do so, they shall be subject to this section.
